No Sew Fabric Wreath

I'm always ready for Spring and with the weather feeling like Spring weather so early this year, I'm really anticipating "real" Spring. Therefore, I wanted to make something Spring related and saw a video on Sarah Hamer's Youtube channel, (her channel name is "mypinkcricut"), for a no-sew fabric wreath. It looked simple enough, so I decided to give it a shot with some pretty Spring colored fabrics. Here's how it turned out...

Fiskars Interchangeable Punch Review

Hey everybody! As I mentioned in my last video, I picked up the new Fiskars Interchangeable Border Punch this weekend and thought I would do a quick review one it. So far I have no complaints and I LOVE the storage factor with this new setup. I can't wait to build up my collection of these punches!

I hope this helps somebody out there. Thanks for watching!

Cute Valentine Treats

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I wanted to share the Valentines I made this year for my oldest son's pre-school class. I have been seeing several people making treat bags for parties and such and decided it would be a good time to give it a shot since I wouldn't be the one eating the candy. :) I ended up making 5 variations just to mix it up.

Here's what I did:
I used the Clear Mini Treat Bags from Wilton and put the candy in each bag. Then I used red cardstock to cut a 4 inch by 4 inch square. I scored it at 2 inches and folded it in half. For the die cuts, I used 3 Cricut cartrides. All images were cut at 1 3/4 inches. The owl, penguin and frog were cut from the Create A Critter cartridge, (one of my favorites). The bulldozer was cut from the Beep Beep cartridge, and the big wheel tricycle was from the Boys Will Be Boys cartridge. I cut all the layers of each image and glued them together. I then created a label area for the sentiment by using a piece of pink cardstock cut at 1 1/8 inch by 2 1/8 inch and a piece of white cardstock cut at 1 inch by 2 inches. I used my corner chomper to round the corners of the white piece at 1/8 inch. I actually used my printer to print the sentiments on the white cardstock before cutting them out, but you could just as easily hand write them. I then stuck the top of each bag into the folded part of the red paper and place 2 staples near the bottom edge on each corner. I then adhered the diecut and it's appropriate sentiment to the front and wha-lah! A cute valentine treat bag. The sentiments were as follows:

Big Wheel - Hey Valentine! I "wheelie" like you!"
Bulldozer - I "dig" you!
Penguin - You're cool, Valentine!
Frog - "Hoppy" Valentine's Day!
Owl - Valentine, you're a hoot!

That was pretty much it. Very simple and easy, yet homemade, which was what I was going for. My son is only 3 and I'm already over the store-bought valentines. I figure I better take the opportunity now to make his valentines before he becomes too cool to take valentines like this to school for his friends. :)

I also wanted to make something special for his teacher and her aide, so again I just did something simple, but more fun than a card or whatever. So I just put some candy in a cute valentine's coffee mug that I found at Target. I put some shredded white, black and red copy paper in the bottom of the mug so that the candy would stay put and propped up. I used the same labels except I punched a hole in one end, added a pink eyelet and then used some red ribbon to tie the tag to the handle of the mug. I thought they turned out pretty cute.

So there you have it. A quick and easy idea for some valentines... I guess for next year since today is Valentine's Day, right?

Enjoy,

Stacey
